Buying a ticket is easy. Just go to one of our conveniently located ticket agents or buy a cash fare from the driver when you get on board.

Bus fares are charged on how far you have to travel. Unless you buy a ticket before boarding the bus, you must pay by cash.

If you make regular journeys by bus, you might like to buy a specific ticket for your journey or use a Snapper card.

Wanting a discount on cash fares?

If you choose to pay by Snapper you receive a discount off the cash price of a single adult fare on any GO Wellington bus. From 1 June 2009 the discount will be 20%.

Snapper is a faster, simpler and easier way to pay for low value transactions.

Snapper comes as a card or a USB device for your computer. It stores up to $300 value on it.

Adult 10 Trip Tickets

Since 1 December 2008, adult ten trip tickets have not been accepted on GO Wellington buses. If you have any remaining value on your ten trip tickets you can claim a refund. Refunds are available until 31 May 2009.

GO Wellington Pensioner Bus Permits

From 1 April 2009, pensioner bus permits are no longer being issued by WCC, so they can no longer be used for discounted travel on GO Wellington buses. Pensioner ten trip tickets will not be accepted from this date. If you have remaining value on your ten trip ticket, we will refund it.

Refunds are available until 1 September 2009.

SuperGold card holders (from 1 October 2008)

Present your SuperGold card to Travel FREE* between 9.00am and 3.00pm, then after 6.30pm on weekdays and all day on weekends and public holidays.

If you are travelling before 9.00am and between 3.00pm and 6.30pm weekdays, you will be required to pay the full adult fare.

For Senior Citizens who don't have a SuperGold card, our daily passes may be the best option.

*Excludes Stadium shuttles and special event and promotional fares.
