Friday, 26 September
GO Wellington bus services have been restored to normal today, Friday, 26 September after the Tramways and M&C unions agreed to withdraw their notice of strike action and to return to the negotiating table. Further mediation is scheduled for next week.
“We look forward to returning to the negotiating table,” says Bruce Kenyon, General Manager GO Wellington. “We believe that this is the appropriate place to resolve this issue and we will be working hard to secure an agreement that meets the needs of both our customers and our people.”
With strike action withdrawn, GO Wellington now has the certainty it needs to be able to operate its services safely and reliably for its customers.
“We would like to apologise to our customers for the disruption caused and thank them for their patience over the past week,” continues Mr Kenyon.
To thank the Wellington travelling public, GO Wellington will be providing free Stadium shuttles between 3.30pm and 5.30pm to the Lions versus Tasman Ranfurly Shield match on Saturday, 27 September and then again immediately following the game. The Stadium shuttles can be caught from Courtney Place and other established Stadium shuttle bus stops.
